Christmas Week: "Muppet Christmas Carol" (2)
I know I've already told you about my liking of The Muppet Christmas Carol; today I'd like to show you two of the songs but this time in French.
Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine)'s introduction:
Jacob and Robert Marley (Statler and Waldorf)'s song:
Note that Michael Caine is dubbed by Bernard Dhéran.
"Ça sent bon Noël" / "It feels like Christmas" (sung by Richard Darbois)

Lookalikes (3)
Our lookalikes tour continues! Let's start with some stars bearing an uncanny resemblance with dictators:

Brilliant.

Yet another (quasi) dictator…

Scary!

Take that, ugly old fascist!

Actually, it was (our "extremely diplomatic" minister) Karel De Gucht who suggested that first…

Perfect!

"Wicked!" (as Ron said in Harry Potter)

Always posing for the photographs…

ROFLOL

Wall-E really plagiarised our beloved Johnny Five!

Bravo!

Now I truly realise why I found Alf so weird: he had a combover just like Donald Trump!

Obvious.

A very topical lookalike indeed.
Haha!
The Pope is the monarch of the kingdom of Vatican (which is essentially his palace and his backyard) and over the minds of his horde of catholic followers, who are gullible enough to put a old senile pensioner on the throne.
Becoming pope
In 1939, Ben was in the Nazi German SS. And so, one day, while walking through the Warsaw, suddenly a filthy Polish beggar grabbed his leg begging for some money. Benny naturally pulled out his Walther to do some point-blank target practice, but suddenly heard a voice from the sky: "Don't kill this beggar!” Ignoring the voice, he aimed again, but the voice repeated: "Don't kill this beggar!" Annoyed, he aimed again and this time the voice said: "Don't kill this beggar - he will be a Pope one day". This time Benny did some thinking and finally returned the pistol to the belt grumbling - "OK, but only if I am to be the pope after him.”

Ode to Joy
Just watch Beaker (i.e. one of the Muppets, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew's scientific assistent) who multiplied himself in order to recreate Beethoven's Ode to Joy ("a choral symphony for four solo voices, chorus, and orchestra", "in the fifth and final movement of his Ninth Symphony", as stated on Wikipedia [because I don't know anything about classical music]) — for Statler and Waldorf's delight, of course.
Today's Uncyclopedia featured article: Beethoven.

Coneheads
Here's the trailer of Coneheads, a movie which I like very much but which I haven't had the opportunity to watch for several years. Fortunately, I've got the DVD and I'll watch it in July or August. Till then, I can enjoy the trailer. From the Wikipedia entry (slightly edited):
Unfortunately extracts from the film are scarce on YouTube, so I propose you watch this fine example of rickrolling… (Remember?)
Coneheads has been said to have made an "accidental" or "unintentional" political statement or social commentary about the nature of the immigrant experience in America, the filmmakers' ostensible intent being merely to entertain. The film's plot premise: the adventures of the Conehead family — whose ship, as part of an advance scouting mission for an invasion, is shot down by a F-16 fighter-interceptor of the New Jersey Air National Guard, and they try to assimilate into American society and pursue the immigrant's American dream.
The film stars Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin as Beldar and Prymaat Clorhone (who later Anglicize their Remulakian surname to "Conehead"), parents of Connie (Michelle Burke), but also Michael McKean (seen in Dream On as Gibby), and supporting actors Sinbad, Phil Hartman, Jon Lovitz, the late Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Jason Alexander and Alexander's Seinfeld co-star, Michael Richards, makes a cameo appearance.

The Frogfather
I want to show you a Muppet parody of The Godfather, but first you should watch the following two scenes to understand the spoof. The first one is the opening scene, with undertaker Bonasera talking to Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) to ask for "justice" because two thugs attacked his daughter. (Notice Bonasera's combover.)
And now, the Frogfather:
Maybe we should ask Statler and Waldorf (I mean the original ones) to comment on that:
A pot-pourri of some of the many comments they made during The Muppet Show:
A last word:
I believe in America --> One of the best opening lines in the movie history.Second scene: Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) has to go and kill Captain McCluskey, a corrupt policeman, in a restaurant:
That I cannot do. --> My foot!
Bonasera. Bonasera. What have I ever done to make you treat me so disrespectful?
Be my friend? … Godfather? --> I think he shit his pants…

Christmas Week: Miscellaneous
I'm sorry to say that it's the sixth and last instalment of the Christmas Week on this blog. I hope you enjoyed the videos I had favourited on YouTube; next year I'll do the same — but with different videos, of course!
Here are some goodies that I had forgotten in my favourites:
The song "It feels like Christmas" (from "The Muppet Christmas Carol") applied to Harry Potter…
And, if we follow the same logic, Severus Snape is Ebenezer Scrooge! Watch this video. (Embedding was disabled.)
And oh yeah, I forgot this one: Batman's Christmas Carol, Panique au village style!!!!
Brilliant!
PS. I posted the account of the first day of our trip to Amsterdam.

Christmas Week: "Muppet Christmas Carol"
Welcome to my second theme week, namely the Christmas Week!
I'll devote this week's articles to my favourite videos that have something to do with Christmas. Previously on this blog, I already showed you a tremendous parody of the Jingle Bells lyrics, song by the Joker (aka Mark Hamill) in Batman: the Animated Series…
I LOVE THAT SONG!
I also love this one, "It feels like Christmas".
As a bonus, you can also read a blog entry that I wrote on germ@namur featuring another song that refers to my new nickname… (Martin, you're gonna like it too!)

Jingle bells, jingle bellsNow it's time for me to talk about one of my top-three Christmas movies: The Muppet Christmas Carol, based on Charles Dickens's Christmas Carol. The film stars Michael Caine to perfectly perform the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. (By the way, in the French version, he's voiced-over by the talented Bernard Dhéran.) It features the Muppets (of course) playing different characters in Dickens's story, e.g. Kermit as Bob Cratchit, and Gonzo the Great to act as Dickens/the narrator — definitely an overt one in this case, as in the book. At the beginning of the movie, he introduces Ebenezer Scrooge…
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
in a one horse-open sleigh, hey!
Jingle bells, Batman smells
Robin laid an egg
The Batmobile lost a wheel
And the Joker got awayyyyyyyyy!
Crashing through the roof
On a one horse-open tree
Busting out I go
Laughing all the wayyyyyyyyyy! Haahahahahah!

Seinfeld: The Contest
Last week, I showed you a fragment from The Muppet Show, in which we could see what Seinfeld and his friends were talking about when they were young. I told you there was a reference to the episode The Contest, so I looked it up on YouTube and found the mythic scene, where you can understand the whole story. If you look a bit further on the website, I think you can watch the whole episode in several bits. Enjoy.
Oh, and as long as we're with Seinfeld, here is the fragment which is an Easter Egg (i.d. a reference) to JFK, with Kevin Costner. It's basically a spoof, and what's extraordinary about it is that the guy who plays Newman (Wayne Knight) was also playing in JFK, as an assissant to Garrison, the attorney.
That's it.

The Baby Muppets + Seinfeld = The Seinfeld Babies
Again, I found something really silly on YouTube. I saw this Muppet Show scene when I was nine or so… At the time, I only knew Seinfeld from my parents, who were watching it every Saturday. Years passed by and I watched the nine series of Seinfeld as they broadcast them three years ago. And now, thanks to YouTube and the saint who posted this video, we can watch it as many times as we want!!
They're soo cute!
—The one who can go the longest without a diaper change wins the contest!
— I'm out!"
--> It refers to the 3rd-series episode The Contest in which Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer are entering a contest in which they have not to… satisfy themselves… alone… Know what I mean. They didn't say the word in the episode, but this implicitness was so explicit that it was one of the funniest episodes ever — along with the Soup Nazi. In the real Seinfeld show, Kramer was the first to lose, shouting "I'm out!"
