Back to the… past (for a change) – Part III: Stay at the seaside

What can I tell you that's worth sharing about my holiday in my favourite coastal town?

First I arrived there on 30 June, in the evening. We went there by car, my parents were just staying that night because they had to take care of Curtis (our cat) the following days. From 1 July to 6 July I rode my bicycle with my uncle and my brother on the smooth and safe coastal roads, and it was great fun: 300 km in total. I could have ridden a little bit more if there had been less wind and rain.

Apart from that, I saw a dozen of new Belgian licence plates, i.e. three digits preceding three letters, such as:

This one was the very first one I saw, hence the picture. Such plates are given out by the DIV (Direction pour l'Immatriculation des Véhicules / Dients voor de Inschrijving van de Voertuigen) since 25 June, but just for car owners that apply for a plate via the Internet. Plates with the now older code (e.g. YRJ-983, the newest plate I've seen so far) are still issued in local DIV offices. If, like me, you prefer that older code, you know what to do if you want to get one. I'll tell you more about these new plates in a forthcoming blog entry.

On 4 July (Independence Day, I know) my brother and I decided to go to Knokke. In Zeebrugge we got to see this amazingly huge ship:

We couldn't resist going to the "Place M'as-tu-vu" (as we nickname it, instead of Place Albert) and act as chavs in the middle of obviously rich people wearing white trousers and shirts with awful pink stripes. We ate a "Luikse wafel" and made silly comments about the city. I was surprised by the number of vanity plates I had seen, e.g. SAY·007, IJS-101, GRA-004, TM-865, OOO-200, RAP-001, BOB-004, etc. "Spekje voor m'n bekje", as I can recall from Konnex.

Notice the yellow stickers with a Flemish lion on both our bikes…

We also saw an old Russian submarine that we visited some ten years ago in Zeebrugge harbour. Admire this symbol of the communist warefare!

Another day, I saw this interesting vanity plate:

Maybe the owner works for Toys'r us or something…

An interesting photo for trainspotters: 78 + 13 + 16 (these numbers representing the locomotive's type, or, as we say, the "series").

Well that's about all I have to tell about my trip. I'm already looking forward to my next stay at the Belgian (or should I say "Flemish"?) seaside.

Hyding place

Here's a brilliant twist on R.L. Stevenson's Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde with Sylvester and Tweety Bird as protagonists:

I love Tweety's diabolical laughter and Sylvester's literal discomposition when he sees the mutated bird for the first time…

Funny home videos

If you're fed up with the huge pile of homework you've got to do, why don't you have a short break and watch the following videos?

I love the last ten seconds!

The most surprising is this is just a small percentage of all domestic accidents that occur, because there's not always someone with a cam recorder!

Pics' art

Today, let me show you a series of silly photographs I found on the Internet. Let's start — for a change — with those I found on Uncyclopedia:

Close Encounters of the Third Reich:

Who can deny that Man is descended from apes?

Strange coincidence, isn't it?

This is a clever boy!

See, I told you he was evil!

This would have ruined his authority, back then:

Some of you are familiar with these signs, seen in the periphery of Brussels:

(Source: Brio.)

"How did you get up there?"
"I fell!"

This one is probably a fake one, though:

Brilliant:

"Are you having a laugh?"

This is evidence that birds cannot read (or, at least, interpret symbols):

And dogs as well.

It's raining cats and dogs (just to use the phrase)

While browsing through YouTube videos related to silly cats, I found this one about a… mad Kitty!!!!

And this one is quite funny, too:

(Please don't try this at home with your own kitty!)

And several days ago, I featured a video with a cat that tried to grab something hanging from a fan. It was too funny to be true:

I especially like the cat's moaning…

PS. Today I noticed that the counter on the left indicated that 1,000 visitors had cliked this blog address since 5 November 2007, when I installed this counter. That's quite impressive.

Bad Advertisement

Yo. I received an email in which I found a link to pictures denoting an unfortunate link between an ad and the context where it's found. Check this out:

This picture was probably taken exactly six years ago…

Yummy! Who's feeling like having an ice-cream? This girl apparently perfers licking the rubbish bin.

Praised be our Lord, Jesus Cat!

"Don't try this at home."

To smoke or not to smoke: that is the question.

Who's never suffered from an Error 404, especially on Yahoo?

This should be given the award of the worse matched advertisement.

Dumb and Smarter.

Oh, look, new fashionable panties with carefully designed images hit the stores! I gotta have one!

Wrath of Dog (What a silly pun)

In comparison to the cat I showed to you yesterday, this dog shown on the left is one of my favourites. It's called "dogue de bordeaux", just like the one we see in the terrific film Turner & Hooch with Tom Hanks, about a cop who's got to team with a dog who witnessed a murder. Anyway, this dog just looks awesome. It has a "je-ne-sais-quoi" to it… Maybe it's due to the eyes: when you face it, you fall in love.

PS. I haven't got a dog.

It's a Cat…astrophy!

I imagine there is a contest to judge which cat is the ugliest in the world. (After all, there's such contest for dogs…) In my opinion, the cat on the picture on the left would be given the first prize! THAT is an ugly cat. My grandmother's cat, Bouboule, is a wicked piece of meat, but this cat being washed is like the Holy Grail of ugly cats…

PS. I haven't got a cat. (Encore heureux !)

Supercat

Silly, isn't it? This cat is lifting its master's car to help him change a flat tyre… Or is that just a special effect…?

Catzilla

(I definitely have a problem with cats.)

The movie Mouse Hunt with Nathan Lane is one of my favourite films. I suddenly remembered that there was a cat in it… And as I like cats to be annoyed, I decided to show you this:

"— A ferocious feline, preferably with a history of mental illness, and I'm talking… one mean pussy.
— Yeah, a vicious cat, difficult to love… D'ya have any of those, knocking around your cages?
— Funny you should ask: I had all but given up on anyone wanting him… We were about… to gas him again.
— Again?!?"

And that:

Why Don't We Take A Revenge On Cats?

Once again, as I found these gems on YouTube, I wanted to share it with you. These are other commercials that were parodied. These spoofs by Les Nuls are about those "useless-cats-that-don't-do-anything". You find the French transcription and the English translation.

Le coup de pied au cul… // The ass-whipping

Pour les chats qui en ont jusque là des pâtés pour chats, Fido a créé le coup de pied au cul. Miaaaaaaaawwwwwww!!!!. Et voilà le travail. Le coup de pied au cul : goûté et approuvé.

For cats that are fed up with cat food, Fido developed the ass-whipping. Miaaaaaaaawwwwwww!!!!! And that's it. Ass-whipping : tasted and approved.

Kwiskas - Message du CCC (Comité Contre les Chats) // Kwiskas - Message from the ACC (Anti-Cats Comity)

As nature is beautiful, the new Le Chat machine helps getting a better protection of the environment.
Even less of the phosphate, even less of washing powder : the new Le Chat machine, it's 100% natural. (Miaaaiaaiiiiwwiiiiaaaiiiiuuuwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Let's show evidence of it: … aw!
Don't forget to boil your cat. It was a piece of advice given by the CCC (Comité Contre les Chats)

My Brother Wants to Smash Félix

When you get bored, you can do all sorts of things (like spying on the naked teachers in Paris). This time, during the Easter holiday in 2005, my bro (Robin) and I were outside, for no reason. In the garden comes pretty often Félix, the cat of our German neighbour. This cat likes hunting the birds, but we don't let us killing those creatures. And if Félix disobeys us, we know how to chatise him: you just throw a big stone on him so that he faces reality… Crual, this photograph? No, because my brother never threw a stone on Félix. Even if he had a strong wish for doing so… I think that this time, we was pooing in the sandpit (or sandbox, if in which we used to play when we were young (not so many years ago, I must admit). It made my brother angry… "Something is rotten in the sandbox of Danemark, and Robin is taking up the trash…".

My Neighbour's Cat

Meet Félix, the cat that belongs to Manfred, a German neighbour. This cat has been castrated, so he's very kind. He loves to be scratched around the neck. He loses too much fur (or is it "hair"?). He likes to run in our garden to catch a bird, but we don't let him kill those lovely creatures.
