2008: an summary

So today's New Year's Eve, which means it's time for looking back at what happened in 2008, don't you think? To help me remember all that I rely on the Wikipedia entry on 2008. I just highlight some events, or else this blog post would be filled by reports on suicide bombings and other wars, coups and mass killings…

2008 was designated as:

I hadn't even noticed all that. I even think that the "International Year of the Frog" deserves being mentioned for its lack of concern from the media.
These people passed away:
That's it. Join me on 31 December 2009 for a summary of the year!

Silly Olympiads

Only the Monty Python guys could invent that, obviously:

"The 27th Silly Olympiad, an event held traditionally every 3.7 years, which this year has brought together competitors from over 4 million different countries:
- 100 yards for people with no sense of direction
- 1500 meters for the deaf
- 200 meters freestyle for non-swimmers
- Marathon for incontinents
- High jump
- 3000 meter steeplechase for people who think they're chickens"

Prelude to the 2008 Olympics

The 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing have already begun, so I thought it was high time I showed you this video: Philippe Geluck attempting to break the long jump record…

Donnie the Entertainer

Let's make fun of ex-US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld:

Here's evidence that Donnie's an expert in martial arts:

Today's Uncyclopedia featured article: Donald Rumsfeld as you could expect.

"Son of dork!"

Problem Child is a film I used to watch a lot when I was a little boy, because it's about an eight-year-old monster that always behaves badly… The film starred the late Jack Warden (as Big Ben Healy) and John Ritter (as Ben Healy). The devilish Junior is played by Michael Oliver. Today I'd like to show you the baseball scene. Enjoy.

I know I've already featured the following scene, but I like it very much:

"Il va enfin pouvoir s'acheter une nouvelle écharpe"

A video which was quite popular on YouTube is the following one:

In fact this had been shot in 2006 — Standard didn't win that year — and turned into a joke. However, Standard did a much better season this year, and they eventually got the most awaited (i.e. for 25 years) Belgian Ligue title (or whatever I should call it). Now the guy in question, Luc Sacré, has gained into popularity and has even been invited to comment on several matches. And we can guess he finally bought a new scarf…

I don't know if I should call that a pathetic behaviour… After all, we have the right to have a hobby, be it completely silly — and I am a fine example of such a concept. Nevertheless, I think you will find the following video quite pathetic:

Un vieux frânc-maçauuu et éévêêêêk ! C'est terriiiip !

Aw!

I wanted to show you a short series of pictures I recently found on the Internet. Enjoy.

"Oh-oh!"

A silly advertisement:

Imagine the pain a split second after this photograph was taken…

This guy is about to get an appointment at the dentist's:

Say goodbye to your privates!

Now take a look at the most horrific picture of this entry:

It's freaky to realise that people thought they were fashionable with that kind of look in the 1980s…

A nice compilation to remember to look at the bright side of life even when your life is a piece of shit when you look at it:
