Shame on Him! Duodecies: Rajendra Pachauri

Today former US VP Al Gore, together with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was given the Nobel Peace Prize, most notably for their effort to make people more aware of the issue of global warming, as shown in Gore's movie An Inconvenient Truth.

Here's what the Nobel Commity says:

"The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2007 is to be shared, in two equal parts, between the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Albert Arnold (Al) Gore Jr. for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change."

On the telly, they highlighted the fact that Al Gore was helped by a guy called Rajendra Pachauri. I had to remember his name, for I deeply wanted to google his name in order to find pictures of him. But maybe you wonder what I find so attractive to a scientist… In fact this man is a weather/climate buff, but a hair moron. He has indeed a combover… Shame on him!

And the Oscar® Goes to…

Last night took place in the Kodak Theater of Los Angeles the most important event in the industry of cinema: the Academy Awards Ceremony. Martin Scorsese was—at last!—rewarded for his most recent film, "The Departed", featuring Jack Nicholson and Leonardo DiCaprio, among others. He was given an Oscar® for being the Best Director and for having made the Best Movie. The statuette was given by a shock trio: Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, maybe the world's best directors ever—and good friends of Scorsese's.

Apart from that, as expected, Forest Whitacker and Helen Mirren were elected Best Actors, and Al Gore (former US Vice-President) was awarded the Oscar for the Best Documentary. The Oscar was given to him by the famous stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld (whom I am a great fan of).
